It is highly recommended that
you maintain written documentation of your assignments and progress, as you may wish to reference them in the future.
Course Description
This free online course provides
an introduction to alternative forms of learning with a focus on the theoretical and philosophical work of Joe L. Kincheloe.
Learners will practice processes that incorporate cross-disciplinary knowledges and analyses of multiple viewpoints as an
aid to interpreting, understanding, and applying Joe’s theoretical work to doing and/or creating meaningful work they
enjoy. This is accomplished in context with learners’ personal interests, talents, skills, desire to learn, in conjunction
with applications of critical pedagogy as presented in the Online Critical Pedagogy course and also applied in this course.
Online Critical Pedagogy 101 is not a prerequisite, but would be helpful. This course will assist learners with gaining a broader and deeper understanding
of the issues within their areas and careers of interest, as well as provide a deeper interpretation of Joe’s work that
will help applying it in all areas of life. The focus is on each of us developing our own “Good Work” doing what
we love, even if only supplementary for the time being to current occupations and vocations.

INTRODUCTION
Don’t want to go through the elite-designed indoctrination system? You don’t
have to! Or maybe you are taking that path, but want to neutralize the indoctrination or supplement your mundane experiences
with interesting, motivating learning experiences. All of Joe’s books provide guidance that will help you develop your
mind and your creativity so that you are a sovereign, self-supporting, contributing member of society. There are multiple
paths. This course will reference the first of two books Joe wrote for those who want to take the transgressive and sovereign
route. We will be studying the updated (in 1999) of his originally 1995 published book, Toil and
Trouble: Good Work, Smart Workers, and the Integration of Academic and Vocational Education. We
will also be covering certain aspects of a book he wrote in 2002, which is an early example of his more developed bricolage
process, The Sign of the Burger: McDonald’s and the Culture of Power.
A future course will cover his second book relating to the synthesis of vocation and academics, written in 1999, How Do We Tell the Workers? The Socioeconomic Foundations of Work and Vocational Education.
I am thrilled to be presenting
these courses under his guidance, as well as under the guidance of many other Great Higher Education teachers…I cannot
do it alone.
Lesson 1. Saturday,
June 25, 2016
I was “prompted” to buy this pretty coffee cup yesterday. It was time for a new coffee cup. I sentimentally bought
two exactly the same to give one to my daughter. I filled it with special treats as a special treat. She just graduated from
community college and is still trying to decide what she wants to “do.” No rush, no rush at all: “Do What
You Love.” It has taken me too many years to even come close to understanding, realizing and enacting that, but now
I do that every day in some kind of way. One of the things I love most is reading Joe’s work and deeply contemplating
the meaning of it all (see the courses on phenomenology for more
about “meaning”). I genuinely absolutely LOVE his work and HIM (this song was just handed down to me; as I’ve
discussed many times the “gods” love to teach through music and the more you appreciate their gestures of sending
you beautiful music, the more beautiful music they will send you):
When
A Woman Loves A Man - Westlife Lyrics
Having Joe as my teacher has
been the most exhilarating experience of my entire life. We sing and dance together in the Heavens:
When
You Tell Me That You Love Me - Westlife ft Diana Ross Lyrics
And Joe, Great Teacher that he
is, never lets me forget that he’s still learning too! Love is always injected into this Venus and Sanat Kumara (Enki/Ki;
Psyche/Eros; Soferia/EmanuEl) ONE LOVE PATH:
Joe
Cocker - A woman loves a man
When you learn more about Joe’s
Gift to the World—the works and the love he has left behind—you will discover just how embedded Divine Love (and
beautiful music!) is within them and you will experience for yourself the Power of that Love.
I will reiterate the warning he has frequently given:
“It will change who you are.” What better way than that to discover how to do what you love? As I have learned,
doing what you love for no other reason than to LOVE leads to the one true love of your life (it’s just the way the
cosmos is arranged, but don’t take my word for it. Find out for yourself).
And so this morning, he’s gotten me started on yet
another path which will especially appeal to those of us who are sick and tired of the old, worn ways of learning and working.
As David Icke expresses so well, there are good reasons to take an alternative path to our education. In many ways, I wish
I had done so a lot sooner, but then, I was meant to experience what I did for analysis, learning, and teaching purposes—and
to meet Joe. So it was worth it. Related to alternative forms of education, this video by David Icke was handed down to me
this morning…
David
Icke - How Public Education Controls Your Mind
As you will learn when you take
your own learning journey and enter that vibrant, energetic, very loving flow, learning is guided, personalized, individualized—and
learning is FUN. It is loving, personal, funny, serious, rigorous, multiperpestival, and it’s alive. But it requires developing awareness and astuteness. That does take work and practice.
I present the following as an example. This morning
I was guided into writing this first lesson for this course. The David Icke video came up for me on YouTube as I was catching
up on the latest news about Britain’s vote for independence from the European Union. The David Icke video in the side
bar caught my attention because it relates to this endeavor—education. As I watched the video, I noticed the next video,
a trailer for Walt Disney’s BFG.
Now
this is very curious indeed! Why? Was it because I had long ago (several years ago) been provided an interesting puzzle to
present to interested followers of Joe’s work that he had included in his book, The Sign of
the Burger: McDonald’s and the Culture of Power? In fact, I had posted the puzzle right here on this website (can you find it?): Fun Stuff! OK, now that I’ve given away which book he presented
the BFG in, your job is to discover where in the book he references him, where does he discuss “giant” and what
is the significance?
I
suspect that in order to develop a more in-depth answer, we will need to watch Walt Disney’s new movie—the trailer
for which popped up for me….hmmm….I really don’t like supporting a corrupt, allegedly satanic, mind-manipulating,
too-big-to-fail media corporation. If we take Joe’s perspective on all of this however, it means we must take a multidimensional,
critical complex and epistemological analysis and pull out the good midst the bad. I have no idea where this will all lead
in this course so, like you, I am walking this path as I go. If you take the Doing Phenomenology course posted on this website, you will learn that Max Van Manen in his Phenomenology
of Practice textbook, describes this as an “agogical” approach whereby what we do is an example of what we are teaching and because we are doing it as we go along,
we are also learning. We cannot teach without learning. When you are a learner, it’s also good to teach while you are
learning. You can do that by sharing what you learn with others.
As it turned out, there are three interesting trailers for the BFG.
The
BFG Official Trailer #1 (2016) - Bill Hader, Mark Rylance Movie HD
The
BFG Official Trailer #2 (2016) - Mark Rylance, Bill Hader Movie HD
The
BFG Movie CLIP - I Catch Dreams (2016) - Steven Spielberg Adventure HD
What
makes this especially interesting to me is quite multidimensional in experience….I will have to tell the story here.
As I have described on this site
and in my dissertation and other writings, before Joe passed over, I was learning his form of research bricolage directly
from him. He’s a Great Teacher. I planned to write my dissertation using his theory, which I did ultimately do, even
though he passed away before I had barely gotten started. Well, he apparently decided not to let death get in his way because
like Jesus, he resurrected and came back to me and helped me write that dissertation. You don’t really think I wrote
that by myself, do you? Have you even read it? If not, take a stab at it now; it will only help you with this course and with
your life journey:
Did Joe Lyons Kincheloe Discover the Golden Chalice
for Knowledge Production? The Application of Critical Complex Epistemology and the Multidimensional Critical Complex Bricolage.
To continue my story, when Joe
returned to me, I was put on a very fast spiritual training mission, a series of initiations, or whatever you want to call
it. It was wild, crazy, and so much fun! He had me going out on treasure hunts to a remote Kings Valley which I had forgotten
all about, long-distance epistemological road trips, and listening to the instructions from “the gods.” (The highlights
are recorded in the blogs right here on this website). At one point along the trail, I was shown my true home in great detail
and reminded of what my spiritual name is—which is Sōferia—one day (October 16, 2010 to be exact, after more
than a year of initiations) someone from the higher cosmos shouted it down to me loudly and clearly: “SOFERIA!{“
And I instantly remembered it was my name, researched it. It was derived from the Greek word soteria, meaning salvation.

My Name is Sōferia!!!: What’s in a Name and How does it Relate to Page 97 of Joe's
Book?
I found that very interesting,
but I have since found and written in these blogs, the many deep meanings of my name. It is perhaps one of the most multidimensional
names one could be given, but since I’ve already discussed it, I won’t rehash that here. I also learned much later
that some American Indian tribes say that “Grandmother Spider” visits in October and hands out our spiritual names…so
it was interesting that in hindsight, it had happened in October (which is also my birth month). My name was provided just
a few days before my birthday.
The
point is this: First of all, I have since learned that by some interpretations, if you are on a Divine Path, God will provide
you with your spiritual name. It relates to having your name written in His Book of Life and having eternal life. That’s
a huge discussion for another time.
Secondly,
shortly after having learned my name, it was brought to my attention that Joe had referenced The B.F.G. in his book about
McDonald’s. Since my nickname is also Sofi, just like the little girl in the original cartoon movie, and I seemed to
be working with a lot of “Big Friendly Giants” on this spiritual journey, it all became extremely significant.
So I watched that movie, my first time seeing it (I also wrote about this in my blogs somewhere).
As we begin this quest of alternative education to “Do
What You Love” and before you watch the new BFG movie coming out on July 1, 2016, you will probably want to begin at
the beginning and watch this original cartoon version.
The
BFG
Where
we are headed with all of this, I really don’t know. It will be slightly different for each of us, but will have some
connecting links that bring us all together somehow. That’s always how Joe teaches: we are unique individuals with our
own interests, but the goal is to “Come Together.” We can see how it works out.
Speaking of coming together, I have a dear friend who
I know for a fact that Joe is also teaching; in fact, Joe has been her teacher all of her life! She sent me a link to our
Commencement Address….it’s supposed to be provided at the end of the course, but as Joe and I have always said
in our many lifetimes together: “The Ending is Just the Beginning.” Or we might also say, “The Future is
N.O.W.”
This
Is Water by David Foster Wallace Full Speech
Note
that the video was posted by Joe Mita – interpreted Joe Mighty. Pay attention to everything! This relates here because
Joe is a Mighty Teacher and he is a renowned “Giant”.
I am reminded of a quote from the Bible that has often been grotesquely and rabidly misinterpreted:
Gen 6:4 There were giants in the earth in those days; and
also after that, when the sons of God came in unto the daughters of men, and they bare [children] to them, the same [became]
mighty men which [were] of old, men of renown.
You can read some interpretations here:
Who were the giants mentioned in the Bible?
HOMEWORK: Will the Giants be returning to earth? Or are they already here? How
does this relate to the videos about the BFG? What did Sophi learn about the BFG? Are there “Good Giants” and
“Bad Giants” like in the movie? Some people think they are coming back to earth. Some people think they are already
here. How do you explain that? What are some recent movies about giants? Do they shed any light?

HOMEWORK
If you haven’t watched it,
watch the cartoon version of the The
BFG (click on the link).
Write a short summary/review of the cartoon movie BFG.
Search for the original 1984 book
by Ronald Dahl on Amazon (or elsewhere) and the original 1982 version, and order them (see guidance provided, below). We will
be doing comparisons between the two books, the cartoon movie, and the new movie being released July 1, 2016.
The BFG made the statement in the
cartoon: “What I mean and what I said are two different things.”
I love that comment since it represents the heart of Joe’s work.
How often his work has been misinterpreted! And the essence of his work is to get us to thinking about the many possible meanings
of what people say, whether it’s politicians, teachers, friends, lovers, preachers, marketers, and as Joe would put
it, ad infinitum!
After writing your summary, discuss
the following:
How does the movie relate to
meaning? What is the meaning of the movie? What does it represent, in your view? Is it literal or is it just a metaphor, or
both?
A couple of days ago, I was handed
down this advice: “Do not confuse metaphors for reality.”
Many people (and we all at times) do tend to confuse metaphors for reality. We can become
dogmatic in our beliefs and this can hold us back from learning truths (there are Absolute Truths, but they are not easy to
understand). By the same token, however, perhaps some of the things we view as metaphors are, in fact, reality. Describe an
example of a metaphor that people mistake for reality. Describe what some may view as a metaphor, but is reality. Use evidence
to support your position (i.e. other resources). How can we know the difference? How might these relate to the things we believe
and the formation of our consciousness?
What
might this mean in relation to this movie? Do you think we will find changes among these different versions of the BFG that
indicate how social views have changed over the years? Discuss.
ADDITIONAL GUIDANCE: Researching the Internet for the books:
The BFG-2007 is the current selling
version of the book on Amazon. Below is the associated advertising. The book is touted as being a bestseller, thus it might
be important to analyze it in relation to the original published version. Are they exactly the same? We will explore this
later in the course:
https://www.amazon.com/BFG-Roald-Dahl/dp/0142410381/ref=sr_1_1?s=books&ie=UTF8&qid=1466974605&sr=1-1&keywords=the+big+friendly+giant
Soon to be a major motion picture directed by Steven Spielberg!
Starring Mark Rylance, Ruby Barnhill, Penelope Wilton, Jemaine Clement, Bill Hader, and Adam Godley.
The BFG is no ordinary bone-crunching giant. He is far too nice and jumbly. It's
lucky for Sophie that he is. Had she been carried off in the middle of the night by the Bloodbottler, or any of the other
giants—rather than the BFG—she would have soon become breakfast. When Sophie hears that the giants are flush-bunking
off to England to swollomp a few nice little chiddlers, she decides she must stop them once and for all. And the BFG is going
to help her!
TIPS FOR FINDING OUT-OF-PRINT/ORIGINAL BOOKS
STEP ONE:
For this book, I first did a search on Wikipedia. Here’s the entry on Wikipedia as of today, which you might find helpful

The
BFG (short for "The Big Friendly Giant") is a 1982 children's
book written by Roald Dahl and illustrated by Quentin Blake. It is an expansion of a short story from Dahl's 1975 book Danny, the Champion of the World. The book is dedicated to Dahl's late daughter, Olivia, who died of measles encephalitis at age seven in 1962.[1] As of 2009, the novel has sold 37 million copies in UK editions alone.[2]
An animated television adaptation was released in 1989 with David Jason providing the voice of the BFG and Amanda Root as the voice of Sophie. It has also been adapted as a theatre performance.[3] A live-action adaptation directed by Steven Spielberg will be released in theaters on July 1, 2016.

The story is about a young orphaned
girl named Sophie, living in a girl's orphanage run by the cantankerous and abusive Mrs. Clonkers. One night, Sophie sees
a large, cloaked person blowing something via a trumpet-like object into a bedroom window down the street. She is discovered
by the mysterious person, who carries her to his homeland of Giant Country. There, he identifies himself as the Big Friendly
Giant ('BFG'), who nightly blows bottled dreams into the bedrooms of children, and explains the other type of giants that
eat humans, mostly children. Because the BFG refuses to eat people or steal food from humans, he subsists on a foul-tasting
vegetable known as a snozzcumber.
Sophie and the BFG quickly become friends; but Sophie is soon put in danger by the sudden arrival
of the Bloodbottler Giant, who suspects the BFG of harboring Sophie. Sophie hides in the snozzcumber, unknown to the BFG,
and the BFG offers the snozzcumber to the Bloodbottler, hoping that its foul taste will repel him from the area; whereupon
the Bloodbottler spits out the snozzcumber and Sophie, and leaves in disgust. When Sophie announces she is thirsty, the BFG
treats her to a fizzy drink called frobscottle, which causes noisy flatulence because of the bubbles sinking downwards. The
BFG calls this "Whizpopping". The next morning, the BFG takes Sophie to Dream Country to catch more dreams, but
is tormented by the other giants along the way; notably by their leader, the Fleshlumpeater, the largest and most fearsome.
In Dream Country, the BFG demonstrates his dream-catching skills to Sophie;
but the BFG mistakenly captures a nightmare, and uses it to start a fight among the other giants. Sophie later persuades him
to approach the Queen of England toward imprisoning the other giants. To this end, she uses her knowledge of London to navigate
the BFG to Buckingham Palace, and the BFG creates a nightmare, introducing knowledge of the man-eating giants to the Queen, and leaves
Sophie in the Queen's bedroom to confirm it. Because the dream included the knowledge of Sophie's presence, the Queen believes
her and speaks with the BFG.
After considerable effort
by the palace staff to create a table, chair, and cutlery of appropriate size, the BFG is given a lavish breakfast, and the
Queen telephones the King of Sweden and the Sultan of Baghdad to confirm the BFG's story – the giants having visited
those locations on the previous two nights – then summons the Head of the British Army and the Marshal of the Royal
Air Force. The said officers, though initially belligerent and skeptical, eventually agree to cooperate. Eventually, a fleet
of helicopters follows Sophie and the BFG to the giants' homeland, where the giants are tied up, suspended under the
helicopters, and carried back to London, where they are imprisoned in a pit. The only one not easily caught is the Fleshlumpeater;
but Sophie and the BFG trick him into allowing his own capture. Fleshlumpeater and his fellow giants are then imprisoned where
they are only fed snozzcumbers.
Afterwards, a huge castle
is built as the BFG's new house, with a little cottage next door for Sophie. While they are living happily in England, with
several gifts coming in from the governments of every country ever targeted by the giants (notably England, Sweden, Iraq,
Arabia, India, Panama, Tibet, the United States, Chile, Jersey and New Zealand) for many years, the BFG writes a book of their
adventures, which is then identified as the novel itself.

Awards and recognition[edit]
The BFG has won numerous awards including
the 1985 Deutscher Jugendliteraturpreis as the year's best children's book, in its German translation Sophiechen und der Riese[4] and the 1991 Read Alone and Read Aloud BILBY Awards.[5]
In 2003 it was ranked number 56 in The Big Read, a two-stage survey of the British public by the BBC to determine the "Nation's Best-loved Novel".[6]
The U.S. National Education Association listed The BFG among the "Teachers' Top 100 Books for Children" based on a 2007 online poll.[7]
In 2012 it was ranked number 88 among all-time
children's novels in a survey published by School Library Journal, a monthly with primarily U.S. audience. It was the fourth of four books by Dahl
among the Top 100, more than any other writer.[8]

Adaptations[edit]
Stage play[edit]
The play was adapted for the
stage by David Wood and premiered at the Wimbledon Theatre in 1991.[9]
1989 film[edit]
Main article: The BFG (1989 film)
On Christmas Day in 1989, ITV aired an animated film based on the book, with David Jason providing the voice of the BFG and Amanda Root as the voice of Sophie. The film was dedicated to animator George Jackson who worked on numerous Cosgrove Hall Productions.
2016 film[edit]
Main article: The BFG (2016 film)
Producers Frank Marshall and Kathleen Kennedy began development for a big budget adaptation of The BFG in 1991, and set the project up with Paramount Pictures.[10] Husband and wife screenwriters Robin Swicord and Nicholas Kazan wrote a screenplay adaptation in 1998, with Robin Williams in mind for the title role.[11] By 2001, the script had been rewritten by Gwyn Lurie, which was greeted with
positive feedback from the Dahl estate.[12]
In September 2011 it was announced that DreamWorks had picked up the film rights with Melissa Mathison adapting a new script.[13] In April 2014, Steven Spielberg was announced to direct the film, shooting in 2015 with plans for a 2016 release.[14] Spielberg stated, "The
BFG has enchanted families and their children for more than three decades.
We are honoured that the Roald Dahl estate has entrusted us with this classic story."[15] Mark Rylance will star in the title role. Co-produced by Walt Disney Pictures, DreamWorks, and Amblin Entertainment, the film will be released on July 1, 2016.[16]

SUMMARY FOR LESSON
2
You probably are wondering, why
the focus on The Big Friendly Giant (BFG). There are multiple very important reasons, some of which you will discover as you
engage in this analysis.
As
a reminder, Joe had included reference to the BFG in his book, Sign of the Burger, which is why it’s been chosen for this analysis. Have you found that reference yet? Hint: You don’t
even have to read the book to find it.
I
find it interesting that he made reference to a Giant who gives children good dreams…he had often written in his work
about having done a science project when he was 12 years old about dreams and his teacher giving him a D-, telling him that
it was not science…oh, Baby, look at you now…so sad that
teachers can be that closed-minded, but so wonderful that Joe never let those things stop him. He is a wonderful role model
for what can happen if we choose to rise above the status quo. And it’s just one quality Joe and I have in common. If
someone tells me I can’t do something, I will prove them wrong.
My favorite example of this is when I was 17 and I was so rebellious that my parents sent
me to live with my aunt and uncle in Hawaii. I felt like it was a nice vacation in a beautiful place, but after a few months,
I was ready to go back home to the mainland. I told my uncle I was going to go back, get an apartment, get a car and go to
college. Since my parents had pretty much washed their hands of me and I was on my own and I was still only 17, he told me,
“You’re dreaming!.” Less than 3 months later, I was back on the mainland, got an apartment, and enrolled
in college. Shortly after moving in, I was walking down the street to go to the grocery store and a guy approached me, asking
me if I wanted to buy a car. Believe it or not, he sold me a car (all beat up and with a leaky radiator, but it still ran
good) for only $40! As I look back, I have always been divinely guided…so much for dreams not being reality. I think
Joe and I are both big “Dreamers.”
And speaking of dreams, from the BFG movie, Sophie and the BFG are standing in the dream cave, with sparkling dreams
all around them, (39 minutes into the movie):
Sophie: “Oh, Dear, Gees! It’s like Heaven!”
The BFG: “They’s Dreams. All Dreams. Sometimes I comes
down here just to lookit.”
Sophie: “I could look at them forever! It’s…it’s MAGIC!”
The BFG: Dreams is many mysterious things, but they’s
not magic. Dreams is REAL!”
Ah,
yes, here we are back to that “dangerous knowledge” Joe alludes to so often in his work and to his reference of
many Great Mysteries to explore. Like Joe, I was always interested in the Great Mysteries. In fact, my science project when
I was in middle school was about Atlantis and I had been guided by unseen teachers to reading Plato. I was more fortunate
in that my science teacher did not say it wasn’t science and he gave me an A on the paper. And this great insight from
the B.F.G. perhaps summarizes the Great Experiment Joe and I are working on together, along with other Great Teachers and
Researchers during this era. One of the first things he did when he passed over was prove to me that….Dreams are REAL.
I
will discuss in greater detail later, as I do these assignments myself, the extreme significance and multidimensionality of
the BFG, including more details about my perspective as to why Joe found the story so important to his work about McDonald’s
that he included mention (if only briefly) of it in the book. His work is all about meaning and purpose, as you will come
to learn. And I know from having worked with him for so many years now, that he has guided me to all of this for some very
important reasons.
In the meantime, we will move
forward with other tasks at hand. It will all come together in the end. Faith
Lesson 3. Monday, June 27, 2016
I would be remiss to simply accept that Joe’s
reference to the B.F.G. means the Big Friendly Giant from the story and cartoon. After all, once you find his reference, you
will see that there is absolutely nothing that indicates this is true….but just let me say that a “birdie”
told me what it means, lol. Seriously, it is easy and logical to conclude that based on an intertextual analysis of his work
(and knowing him so well). Not only that, making that interpretation opens the doors to understanding many deep things. But,
also knowing Joe so well, I realize that we are required to look into other meanings of the acronym B.F.G….so
here is my research looking into other meanings. Feel free, in your own learning and teaching to take one of these alternative
routes.
Of course, we have the #1 meaning
of B.F.G. as Big Friendly Giant, so that came right to the top of a google search.
Big Friendly Giant
The BFG (short for
"The Big Friendly Giant") is a 1982 children's book
written by Roald Dahl and illustrated by Quentin Blake. It is an expansion of a short story from Dahl's 1975 book Danny, the
Champion of the World.
Stands for 'Big Fucking Gun'. A powerful weapon in the
Doom and Quake series.

From Acronym Finder (Ranked Meanings):

As you can see, there are many meanings
to the acronym. If you were to choose a different one, what would it be and why?

GOOD GIANTS VS BAD GIANTS?
HOMEWORK:
Read the Introduction in The Sign of the Burger: McDonald’s and the Culture of Power (pp. 1-43), titled “Why McDonald’s?”
Write a summary of the chapter, using the sections and subsections as headings. Why did Joe choose McDonald’s? Do you
think McDonald’s represents a Good Giant or a Bad Giant? What do others think, according to what Joe has written here?
In what ways has McDonald’s
changed work and jobs today? Do we want to work for McDonald’s? (Of course, some people do choose to work for McDonald’s
so there must be benefits).
What
are other options for “Good Work”? How might we create our own Good Work? (These questions will continue to be
addressed in this course).
A Religious Perspective
This
next video reminds me of what seems to be a perpetual unseen battle between good and evil, or the Good Giants and the Bad
Giants. Joe’s last book presents them as the hard-to-identify sources of power and the perpetual conflict between Thanatos
and Eros. I love the fact that he, himself was often referred to as Eros among his colleagues (true story)….in his
book we can win by transcendence…by attaining higher levels of consciousness, which he teaches us how to do.

Critical Complex Entrepreneurial Bricolage: Entrepreneurship for the N.E.W. World
I have been prompted to write and post this update today.
We have been very busy with development of new processes that center on entrepreneurship—a
new form of education for those who want to focus on working their personal gifts to contribute
to a better the world. As always, this is evolving and engages with complexity, so there is no prediction
as to where the process will end up, other than a movement toward the N.E.W. Earth.
Thus, I have added some information to the Critical
Complex Entrepreneurial Bricolage section of this site. Joe has written some
very important books relating to “work” and how we can create “good
work.” This will be a critical element as we move forward. His processes are timeless
and he developed them for the new earth as well as for the few people who are motivated
now to begin working on that project in a way that moves away from the FIDURODian form of education toward
learning and work that are engaged, passionate, uplifting, creative, contributory, productive, etc.
I was provided this clarifying information yesterday from Joe’s book, Knowledge
and Critical Pedagogy: An Introduction:
From recollections of oppression, values and conceptual structures, understandings
about the land inhabited by generations to ways of being that provide alternatives to
Western status based and consumer driven ontologies, subjugated and indigenous people
inform those of us interested in social justice, the expansion of human potential,
constructing a transformative system of education, saving the planet from environmental catastrophe, and resisting imperial
designs of contemporary corporatized Western power wielders. FIDUROD grounded knowledge
simply ignores these valuable epistemological resources, viewing questions raised by
the intersection of traditional Western knowledges and subjugated/indigenous knowledge
as irrelevant. Even the effect of power relations among diverse groups of knowledge producers is not a germane issue
in FIDUROD epistemologies, for there is virtually no interest in studying the forces
that have shaped our views of self and world. [page 53]
This paragraph is interesting because it’s one of his power-packed paragraphs
that contains layers of knowledge and it forces the brain to rewire as we decipher
it. The task, and understanding it is critical. The processes are presented throughout
this book. No matter what actions we take, whether purely academic work or entrepreneurship, we must start freeing
ourselves from oppressive systems that currently operate. What better way than to consider
the alternatives as he mentions in the first sentence? Symbiotic/synergistic relationships
can be built via this exchange of information and knowledge.
Later, he discusses the “totalitarian knowledge policies” dictated
by the Bush administration that resulted in the removal of an excellent education database website,
ERIC (see page 56 of K & CP)). I have reminded him that it was the same sort of
totalitarian knowledge policies that resulted in the removal of HIS two excellent websites.
He assured me that we will be restoring ALL of these websites for the New Earth—and
much more! If you are interested in seeing these just actions, please feel free to get involved!
He guided me yesterday to another important consideration regarding processes
as we move through these rapidly changing times……it is important to not
define yourself (SELF) rigidly. As everything changes, we change, we evolve. That
became crystal clear to me during my ascension process….our names kept changing,
lol. Same souls, just different timelines or realities. In his book, he states, “The self—like
all other phenomena in the cosmos—is always in process. The Western effort to remove self
from these processes, to essentialize it, is to ensure great pain and suffering. To
live, to move to a new, more comfortable domain the self must always be changing”
(p. 244). He, of course, also discusses our multidimensionality, “no time” and the
consequent sense that we are our multiple selves simultaneously (we will cover this in the advanced online
courses, since most people do not relate to these complex processes).
So there you have it—an important update I was asked
to provide today. I will soon have some extra time (breaks from my entrepreneurial
activities and time warps) to post some additional updates to this site. LINK TO THE SECTION: CRITICAL COMPLEX ENTREPRENEURIAL BRICOLAGE
Lesson 6. Saturday, May 27,
2017
Entrepreneurship: Breaking Paradigms, Creating Your Own Economy, and Incorporating
Yourself (But it’s NOT about YOU)
I learned a long time ago, we are “money
ahead” if we can earn money through self-employment.
While I have never gotten rich doing this, my real INCOME has always been higher during self-employment
than when I have only held down J-O-Bs (which the featured
teacher today considers to be “just under broke”).
But this requires that one take time to learn
how the tax code works to maximize your payment to yourself.
Did you know that the IRS considers it smart to MINIMIZE your taxes……they encourage
that. It is even written in the tax codes and it’s
why they reveal all of the tax codes. They may be complicated, but
you can figure them out. Personally, I think the IRS knows well enough
that taxing our labor violates our constitution, but at least they reveal all
of the ways to get out of simply handing money over to them that they are not entitled
to…….you must be SELF-EMPLOYED, especially
if you also hold down a job. Complete this lesson, including listening to the videos
and you will learn why this is so.
Back when I was
about 20 years old, I bought one of those tax preparation books that they put out on
the market for the public. I sat down and combed
through it for a couple of days and absorbed enough of the basics to formulate how to maximize my income
through self-employment. I made a plan and worked the plan and
over the course of my lifetime, while I occasionally held down jobs,
I was able to minimize the taxes I had to pay. Had I studied even
more, I could have probably minimized my taxes even more.
The reason I state this is because one year I was audited. The IRS completely recalculated my taxes for income
that included my husband’s earned income and
my self-employment. I was very close, but after the audit, the IRS gave me an additional
$13 back.
What has changed since then? Computing our
own taxes has gotten easy with the tax software. But if things were somewhat hidden
before, except for those willing to do the work
to research and read about the codes, they are many times more hidden today! Thus, while
we can use these software programs to compute our taxes and save time, it
is even more important to learn the codes hidden behind the software. Of course,
most people won’t do that and will just blindly accept
the calculations and pay the taxes.
Unfortunately,
with all of my self-employment, I never got rich because, as I have
learned there are deeper issues……I am still working on those issues. We
have been programmed, brainwashed, and controlled in many ways.
This is where the application of Joe’s critical complexity (critical complex
pedagogy/epistemology) is useful. We need to gain
(and I am still working on this) an intimate understanding of our relationship to money and self-worth
as well as teach others about what we learn.
This video
highlights just a few of the issues:
Why Are So Many People Broke
- Subscribe & Comment to Get Involved
One of the topics in Joe’s books about work and social studies is economics. (You can find a list
of his books here). Take time to learn everything you can about this topic so that you have the background knowledge to know where we have
been, where we are now, and where we might be heading…..you
can ride the waves and you can participate in making the
changes. There is abundance on this planet and we all are entitled to our
share of it. There are, however, Divine Laws about money as
well and if you violate them, you will hinder your progress. What are those Divine Laws?……we
will be covering those in these lessons. They will
pop up at various points along the journey and clarify themselves. Of course, I
will be taking a multidimensional critical complex
analysis—trying to drill down through the various interpretations to greater
truth.
In this current lesson, I provide a few
motivating videos and ideas to help get you started.
It’s easy. You simply begin where you are and leverage what you
already have. Do what you love is the motto. I will cover these ideas in greater detail in future
lessons, interweaving how my own personal interpretations
of Joe’s multidimensional critical complex bricolage can be
applied. It beautifully magnifies the results of
our actions, I have learned. I am still working this and developing the plan but I
will share what I’ve already learned as well as what I learn during the process
of developing processes. I have businesses with
multiple streams of income, and while they are in their infancy, I will be growing them
as I hone the processes. Or if you already have lots of money, you can
get a bargain: Cardone University only costs $5,000 per year, marked down (at this
time) from $19,250 per year membership……I think
this guy is appealing to people who already have lots of money.
Of course, this is a bargain if you compare it to university NON-education tuition rates
via which people rarely find gainful employment these days. But
of course, the government will happily loan money for us all to become slaves locked
into their programs IF we can even find a job after
all of our education……….this requires wisdom. Critical
complex epistemology to the rescue.
Here are three motivational videos to get you started thinking
if you are interested in investing in YOU….rather than slave at a day
job.
How to Increase Your Income -
CardoneZone
How to Start from Nothing - Grant
Cardone
How to Make Your First Million
- CardoneZone
A few pointers:
First, do what you love. Start where you are and with what you have. It must be something you are
passionate about because that’s what will keep
you motivated when you confront obstacles. And anyway, we all have special talents,
knowledge, and skills. No one can tell you what
you should do. After getting started, listen carefully to your customers.
Keep evolving your product or service to meet their expressed needs. Go with what works. This
follows Grant Cardone’s advice not to diversify,
but understand that, in reality, diversifying is what will ultimately make you more
successful if you engage in the fourth dimensional processes. Most people
are not there yet, so the advice to not diversify but rather improve
your product and bring in related products is good advice. Build multiple
streams of income (where you make sales, types of
related/offshoot products and services), and eventually as you become more adept, through diversification.
There is no reason not to diversify later with the advent
of the powerful technology we have. Fourth dimension connections will invariably lead
one to diversify. I will explain this further as
we continue on this path.
